Meet the Team – Sara from Laverton

How long have you been working here?

Just over 5 days and enjoying it! However, I was in Brisbane training on 2 occasions; each for 5 days and met up with some of the ‘cool’ geeks.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
Meeting People, solving their concerns and seeing them happy. Coming from a teaching/ lecturing background and some administration work, I feel happy seeing people be able to relate to the issues which they need to know and/or are concerned about and know what options they have by understanding what they face and be able to connect to what is going on so they will feel that they are in control of the situation even as you’re doing the groundwork for them. Their look of satisfaction and happiness is worth a thousand words and this is what motivates me to carry out what I do and try to do it the best way I know how.

What is your Tip of the Month?

PC’s running Windows XP sometimes will load the background but the icons may not appear for a few minutes. This is usually a problem with the Windows user profile.  Renaming the profile solves the problem. To rename a profile, a new administrator profile will need to be created, the machine needs to be rebooted and logged in with the new administrator profile. All data from the previous profile will need to be copied into the new profile and applications which were customised in the previous profile will need to be customised in the new profile. The most common application is outlook. Do remember to move the old profile into another location and remove the old user account from “control panel”.

What is your favourite website? I like reading anything by Thomas Berry and believe in ecological civilization which cares for the earth but on a techie standpoint of websites, I like to go to and for hardware reviews, analysis and news. I find them highly reliable in information provided and updated from the technology front.

What are your Hobbies?

I enjoy the outdoors, anything animal and nature related. When there is rock climbing, white water rafting, or even simple walks or hikes, please count me in. I also love to spend time (given the opportunity) working with the vets/ care takers caring for wildlife and if any of you decide to go to Malaysia, namely Sarawak; there is a wildlife sanctuary there which needs a helping hand and some attention. There are several national parks which are a spectacle for wildlife but since I’m now here in Melbourne, I wish to volunteer sometime with Wildlife Victoria. Lastly, I enjoy cooking… vegetarian food that is.

Random fact about yourself?

Petite but always wanna do what the big guys do and friendly. I believe everything happens for a reason and I try to do at least one thing different for each day to as to learn something new.
